The Facial Rejuvenation
surgery is the procedure used for those patients that want to
recover their normal appearance which has been lost due to the
passing years. The usual complaints are the presence of flaccid skid,
atrophy and the lack of freshness or lushness in their facial
tissues. There are several treatments which can correct these
anguishes from non-invasive to invasive, depending on the aging,
request and the patient’s expectations. The technical arsenal
available to the Plastic Surgeon is varied. In order to choose the
right one and the one with the most benefits the Plastic Surgeon
should always keep the patients desires and expectations first.
In order to facilitate
explaining the procedures we will divide the face in three parts
while also keeping in mind how important the texture of the facial
skin is so that our work can shine. The top third of the face (from
the periorbital region to the forehead) we will find: 1) Eyelid
surgery 2) Eyebrow elevation 3) Temporary Surgical Suspension: The
intercilium or wrinkles between the eyebrows, forehead wrinkles or
creases, the wrinkles around the eyes (frown lines) and the
limitations to these procedures can be temporarily eliminated with
Botox or Dysport. For the middle third of the face (from the chin to
the periorbital region) we have: 1) Surgical Facial Suspension. 2)
Filling in with body fat or injectable fillers (Perlane or
Restylane) for the nasolabial creases. 3) Dermabrasion of the
peribucal region. 4) The placement of implants for the cheeks and or
cheekbone. For the lower third of the face (the neck region) we find:
1) Surgical Suspension of the Neck using the plication of the
platysmal bands and the degreasing of the subplatysmal area. 2)
Liposuction of the jowl or neck skin.
The use of suspension
wires (Russian) can offer good results but these will be temporary
(18 months approximately) and also have the disadvantage of staying
in as a foreign body after they have lost their tensile ability.
